Our Misson
At Hugo Coffee Roasters we are on a mission to save animals by selling fantastic ethically and sustainably sourced coffee. We support a different animal sanctuary/rescue every week by donating $2.50 from every purchase made.
Our Impact
So far we have partnered with nearly a hundred animal rescues and sanctuaries nationwide! These sanctuaries and rescues are often volunteer-based, and rely on donations to be able to provide care to animals in need. With the help of our customers we are able to provide these incredible organizations with an immediate impact so they can continue saving animals.
Our Story
Founded in 2015 by Claudia McMullin, who, in a former life, ran the animal rescue Nuzzles & Co, Hugo Coffee’s mission is to make a difference in the lives of dogs and cats nationwide through a social impact business model. As a foster failure, Claudia named the company after her rescue pup, Hugo, and pledged to give back to dog and cat rescues across the country.
Fluffy Cow Coffee
In December of 2020 we decided to expand our mission beyond helping cats and dogs by making Fluffy Cow Coffee our sister brand. We have been able to help give farm animals a second chance at life by donating to small farm animal sanctuaries nationwide!

Dogs: Hugo & Ruby
The inspiration and face of the company is Hugo himself! While running the (formerly known as) Friends of Animals Rescue eight years ago, Claudia fostered a mixed breed American Bulldog/hound/other-miscellaneous-breed(s) puppy and ended up adopting him. Hugo is a strong boy, both in personality and in body, so the Black Paw French Roast is the perfect cuppa joe to get his morning started. He is full of energy, and so when not joining his parents for a run, swim or bike ride, Hugo typically works (read: naps) from home. He is the perfect, lovable face for Hugo Coffee, the local, small batch roasting company committed to supporting dog rescue with every cup.
At the opposite end of the canine spectrum is Hugo's adopted sister, Ruby. Ruby is a sweet, loyal and caring senior lady. She is tried and true and appreciates the same qualities in her favorite coffee, Bonafido Dark Roast. This Lab/Pyrenees mix was adopted from the Grantville Animal Shelter and loves being an oversized lap dog. She guards her parents from the rambunctious Hugo and is never shy about keeping her famous brother in check.

Meet Rivers, an almost-three-year-old super mutt! When the Nuzzles and Co. Team headed to the Navajo Reservation to help rescue homeless dogs and puppies, Rivers was among those brought back to Park City. It was love at first sight for his now dog dad, Head Roaster John. John is an avid outdoorsman, and can often be caught fishing in his spare time, so it is only fitting that he gave this special guy the name he did! When not assisting his dad come up with delicious new coffee blends, Rivers loves helping John, who is originally and proudly from Louisiana, cheer on the LSU football team, while making a mean pot of gumbo! Rivers has grown up to be a sophisticated gentleman, and continues to learn “New Tricks,” which, coincidentally, is his favorite Hugo Coffee blend!
